The accompanying map is an improvement on that of Humboldt: but as Dr Hooker's investigations were not completed, it is not thought to be worth publishing. A much better & more correct map is preparing by Dr.Hooker.
Darjeeling is a Sanitarium of the E.I.C. [East India Company] till lately rented from the Rajah of Sikkim. Now forcibly taken from him.
Dr. Hooker's routes are marked in dotted lines: & the heights of the principal mountains are given in English feet.
