I am utterly at a loss to define botanically India Aqave[?], vera, & [illeg.], though recognizing these realties -- from the want of exact habitats. As to the aqueous terms themselves are they not too vague?

First let me offer my sympathy -- I was aware of you being examined[?], but was not of the result. The loss of a Parent under whatever circumstances is always a telling stroke.
I am as much pleased as interested & instructed by the capital Introduction you have written to your List of Bengal plants. There are many matters in it which I hope we may talk over, & which affect intimately the tack under which I am struggling to find my way.
