Reeve [Pulishing Company] has not returned the [BOTANICAL] MAGAZINE proofs he promised which will delay publication of some [species] descriptions. JDH has transferred Orychophragmus back to the genus Moricandia from where Bunge had placed it in ragworts[?]. JDH has got engaged to Lady [Hyacinth] Jardine & informed his family.

Since I left I have engaged myself to be married to Lady Jardine & expect to see her father today. I have informed my family of it.

Dear Dyer*1,
Thanks for your letter. I cannot tell you how vexed I am about the cheque & the trouble you have had.
I am distressed about the theft of Bain's portrait, it certainly points to persons who have an personal interest in the man.
Reeve*2 never sent me over the magazine proofs, for which he had abundant time & which he faithfully promised. The descriptions must be delayed till next month now.
