I am desperately at work upon Impatiens. I am sure that India has 300 species or would have if Nepal, the E. Himalaya & E. Burma [Myanmar] were botanized.

Have you seen the Life of Admiral McClintock*2[?] There is in the Appendix, p.325 a description of the Arctic Flora by Fielden*3 that would interest you I think.
I hope you are keeping well & have good news of Harriet*4.
The tree foliage in my place is glorious in colouring -- a tree[?] of Amelanchier some 30 ft high and broad is a ball of snow. -- Could you not run out one day to lunch when in London [?]

1. Sir William Turner Thiselton-Dyer (1843--1928). British botanist and third Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (1885--1905). He succeeded Joseph Hooker in the role after serving as his Assistant Director for ten years. He previously held professorships at the Royal Agricultural College, Cirencester, Royal College of Science for Ireland and the Royal Horticultural Society. He married Hooker's eldest daughter Harriet in 1877.
2. Markham, Sir Clements (1909) Life of Admiral Sir Leopold McClintock. Admiral Sir Francis Leopold McClintock (1819--1907) was an Irish explorer in the British Royal Navy known for his discoveries in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago.
3. Colonel Henry Wemyss Feilden (1838--1921). British Army officer, Arctic explorer and naturalist.
4. Harriet Anne Thiselton-Dyer née Hooker (1854--1945). Oldest child of Joseph Hooker and his first wife Frances Henslow. Harriet was a Botanical illustrator and wife of William Turner Thiselton-Dyer. Her husband was Assistant Director of RBG Kew (1875--1885) and later Director (1885--1905), succeeding her father.
5. Frances Harriet Barnard née Thiselton-Dyer (1878--1851). Eldest child of Harriet Thiselton-Dyer nee Hooker and William Thiselton-Dyer. Grandaughter of Joseph Dalton Hooker. She was names after her late maternal grandmother Frances Harriet Hooker nee Henslw. She married Leonard William Barnard in 1912.
