Dear Lady Jardine
Mr Smith has arranged that the Pitcher plant goes to you tomorrow - addressed to the Station I hope you are enjoying the exceptionally splendid weather we are getting here.
We are all well and unite in sincere regards to yourself and Sir William.
Ever most sincerely yours, | Jos.D.Hooker.
I met Lyell*1 at the Phil. Club on Thursday, very much changed I thought. His speech is hardly intelligible, and he looks very frail.
ENDNOTE
1. Sir Charles Lyell (1797 -- 1875) was a Scottish geologist who demonstrated the power of known natural causes in explaining the earth's history. He is best known as the author of the book Principles of Geology (1830 -- 33)
