The received batch (of two boxes) of Palms have arrived safely & are full of fine things that we had not. The genus Licuala is especially rich in novelties -- but it is too late for me to work them up. Before I send Beccari’s*1 voluminous notes on Indian Palms back, I will have

all the numbers of Malayan things worked[?] out so that both Kew & Calcutta may know how they stand in the matter of things they both lent to Beccari. I have had a tough job with Pandanus*2 & been obliged to leave a good many leaves flowers & cones undetermined. [illeg.] | JDHooker [signature]
